2nd Shift Kiln Utility

Classification: Kiln Utility

Rate Range: $22.32 - $24.32 per hour [Includes Shift differential]

Experience Required: No formal experience required, but a strong willingness to learn is essential. Basic mechanical aptitude preferred.

Initial Assigned Hours: Second Shift: Rotating 7-day shift. 3 weeks; 2-2-3 [3:30pm-11:30pm]

Responsibilities: Assist Kiln Operator (Burner): Support the kiln operator in monitoring kiln temperatures, ensuring optimal operation. Assist in adjusting kiln settings as directed by the operator to maintain product quality and efficiency. Learn and understand the kiln operation process to provide effective support.

Kiln Area Clean-up: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kiln area to ensure a safe and efficient working environment. Dispose of waste materials and debris according to company guidelines and environmental regulations.

Clear Clay and Coal Blockages: Monitor kiln feed for any clay or coal blockages and clear them promptly to prevent disruptions in kiln operation. Follow safety procedures when handling materials and operating equipment.

Minor Maintenance Work: Assist the maintenance team with routine inspections and minor repairs as needed. Perform basic troubleshooting to identify and address issues in a timely manner.

General Assistance: Provide assistance as requested in all phases of kiln operation, including start-up, shut-down, and maintenance activities. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth and efficient kiln operation.

Skills and Abilities: Strong mechanical aptitude and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions. Basic understanding of safety protocols and practices. Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects when required. Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.

Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. On-the-job training provided; willingness to participate in training programs as required.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods. Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including hot and dusty environments.
